This was actually called "Cabbage & Noodles", but my Daddy liked to be funny, so it evolved into "Garbage & Noodles", instead! From what I've been told, this is an old Hungarian recipe, and I like that it is simple to make, has few ingredients, and is delicious and unique. Don't even need a recipe for this one!
Take a 12-oz. package of bacon, and fry the whole thing up in a large pan till bacon is crispy. Set bacon aside. Boil a package of wide egg noodles and set them aside, too. Meanwhile, take a head of cabbage and quarter up into wedges. Fry the cabbage wedges on medium-high heat in the bacon grease; put lid on pan to steam them down, stirring frequently. Once cabbage is cooked down, mix noodles in. Add garlic powder and/or garlic salt and pepper to taste. Crumble up the bacon and mix that in there, too. Once all is mixed, it is ready to eat. All you need is some sour cream to top it off with, and you have a yummy meal! This makes at least 5 or 6 good servings, and makes good leftovers, too. Never thought cabbage could be so good!
