Well, it's almost Easter and Passover, so what have you guys and gals got planned for your Easter or Passover menu? Have any special traditions you would like to share?

You didn't get enough Corned Beef on St. Paddy's day either, I see. I love Reubens. What kind of bread do you use on yours. I like to use the light Rye that I get in a Czech backery near Waco.
Your little grand niece is a cutie. I didn't know it was here birthday too. I'm confused about your age though. Your brother in Dallas claims to be younger than you. But then again, he says he's the better looking one too. Ha.

Hi everyone: In Denmark we have the Easter (I do not know what "passover" means or is and will be glad to get an explanation, cannot find the word in the dictionary). The holidays in Denmark is Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday. Easter Sunday and Monday the Danes have big lunch tables with the open sandwisches and warm dishes / courses. The Tuborg / Carlsberg Breweries made special Easter Beers. Of course the Danish schnaps / aquavit also are very populare here. Children like to paint the eggs in funny colors, think it is an old tradition from Sweden. Small and big chocolate eggs filled with marzipan, nougate or truffle are also traditional for Easter. The wheater is often cold so we are sitting inside. Some years we have snow, but it may also be summer and hot (hot is about 25 degrees Celcius / 77 degrees Fahrenheit). You Americans will call it cold. LOL. This year we think it will be a little rain but also some sun. Wishing you all a HAPPY EASTER. Bridget

The usual ham-it wouldn't be Easter at the Long house without it, and all the fixings. Since my mom's here visiting from Oklahoma, I'm hoping to get her to make Jeff Davis pies, from an old family recipe. And of course deviled eggs with hot sauce-the hubby's favorite.

Hi Tanya,
Sounds good. What are Jeff Davis pies?
We are spending Easter at my brother in-law's, so I don't know what we are having. I am taking a key lime pie for dessert.

Deb, Jeff Davis pies are a rich, custard like pie made with eggs, milk, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. I have no ideal the origins of it, but my grandma said she got the recipe from her mother-in-law over 50 some years ago. I'll watch my mom make it, and try to put the recipe up for everyone.

Sounds good. I like custard pies, like buttermilk pie and lemon chess. This might be a good one to add to the list, especially with the cinnamon. Yum.

We had ribs on the grill with fried potatoes & onions. I hope everyone had a terrific Easter! I had that for lunch today. But yesterday we went to my brother in-laws for Easter. Had a nice traditional lunch of Baked Ham, mashed potatoes, green beans with new potatoes, baked beans, broccoli cheese and rice, dinner rolls and of course what is Easter without deviled eggs. There was a cake, cherry cheese cake and I brought along a Key Lime Pie for dessert. Way more food than I could eat, but what I did eat was great. I hope you all had a great holiday. Deb
